🏈 2025 MHSAA Football Finals Recap: Champions Rise at Ford Field
The 2025 MHSAA football season was everything Michigan fans love about high school football — tough slogs in the cold, late-season surges, programs peaking at the right time, and teams built on heart, depth, and community pride. After a season filled with adversity and breakthrough performances, eight champions walked out of Ford Field knowing they had climbed the mountain.
Below is a clean, fast-moving rundown of each title game — scores, defining moments, and what stamped each team as a champion.
DIVISION 1 — Detroit Catholic Central 42, Cass Tech 19
Detroit Catholic Central capped an unbeaten season by overpowering Cass Tech with a balanced, physical performance. The Shamrocks controlled the pace, wore down the Technicians up front, and sealed the win with a late defensive score that put the game out of reach. After years of near misses, DCC left zero doubt in 2025.
DIVISION 2 — Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 51, Dexter 14
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s walked in knowing Dexter owned one of the state’s most explosive passing attacks. They responded with flat-out suffocating defense. The Eaglets forced turnovers, controlled field position, and broke the game open early on a long defensive touchdown. St. Mary’s repeated as champs and cemented themselves as the standard in Division 2.
DIVISION 3 — DeWitt 54, Mount Pleasant 20
DeWitt delivered one of the most dominant championship performances in Ford Field history. Senior quarterback/wideout hybrid Traverse Moore stole the show with a Finals-record 397 rushing yards and four touchdowns, powering the Panthers past previously unbeaten Mount Pleasant. DeWitt finished a perfect season looking unstoppable in all phases.
DIVISION 4 — Dearborn Divine Child 23, Hudsonville Unity Christian 22
Divine Child’s championship came down to grit and one final drive. After a late fumble nearly swung momentum, the Falcons’ defense responded with a huge stop, giving the ball back to their offense. Senior back Marcello Vitti then iced the game with two big first-down runs to close out a one-point thriller and secure Divine Child’s spot atop Division 4. BIG Congrats to Athletic Director, Richard Jakacki, who is a close friend and fellow CMU alumnus!
DIVISION 5 — Grand Rapids West Catholic 42, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 14
West Catholic’s year didn’t start the way they wanted — but it ended exactly how their storied program expects. After battling through midseason adversity, the Falcons peaked at the perfect time, steamrolling Notre Dame Prep with a complete team performance. It marked the program’s eighth state championship and yet another title in their remarkable run of Finals success.
DIVISION 6 — Jackson Lumen Christi 28, Kingsley 14
Lumen Christi made history with its fourth straight state championship — something even this legendary program had never done. The Titans controlled Kingsley with disciplined defense, a power running game, and a poise that comes only from deep playoff experience. The win also marked the program’s record-setting 15th Finals title.
DIVISION 7 — Menominee 34, Schoolcraft 6
The Maroons returned to statewide prominence with an emphatic win built on their trademark toughness. Menominee’s single-wing attack chewed up the clock, the defense swarmed all day, and the U.P. program claimed its first championship since 2007. It was a full-team statement performance that reminded everyone how powerful the Maroons can be when they get rolling.
DIVISION 8 — Harbor Beach 31, Hudson 20
Harbor Beach closed out a perfect season with a wire-to-wire win over Hudson. Big plays in the run game, strong line play, and a steady defensive showing pushed the Pirates to just the second title in school history. The Pirates took an early 21-0 lead and never looked back.
