Thanksgiving Eve Mitten Minute: Pistons Chasing History, Lions Shake Up Roster & Michigan Hoops Roll
Pre-Thanksgiving question for all of Michigan: which food item are you looking forward to most tomorrow?
For me, it’s the stuffing my grandmother used to make — a family classic that thankfully lives on thanks to my sister. Now, let’s dive into today’s update.
Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons are back in action tonight, and the real story isn’t the NBA Cup — it’s the chance to make franchise history. Detroit heads to Boston chasing their 14th straight victory, which would set a new Pistons record.
Boston will be without Jayson Tatum due to an Achilles injury, while Detroit is missing Marcus Sasser.
Tip-off: 5 PM on ESPN and FanDuel.
Detroit Lions
BREAKING NEWS FROM THE MITTEN MINUTE NEWS DESK — the Lions have waived three players:
- DL Quinton Jefferson
- CB Arthur Maulet
- CB Nick Whiteside
There’s also buzz that both Marcus Davenport and Josh Paschal could suit up tomorrow when Detroit hosts the Packers in the annual Thanksgiving game at Ford Field.
Michigan Wolverines
The No. 7 Michigan men’s basketball team dominated No. 21 Auburn last night, winning 102–72 in the Players Era Championship semifinal.
Six Wolverines finished in double figures, with Yaxel Lendeborg and Roddy Gayle Jr. leading the way with 17 points each. Michigan faces No. 12 Gonzaga in the championship at 9:30 PM on TNT.
Meanwhile, the Michigan women travel to take on Detroit Mercy tonight at 5 PM on ESPN+.
Michigan State Spartans
The No. 11 Michigan State Spartans rolled East Carolina 89–56 behind big nights from Jax Kohler (16 pts, 8 reb) and Coen Carr (13 pts).
MSU takes on No. 16 North Carolina tomorrow at 4:30 PM on FOX in a high-profile Thanksgiving clash.
Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings return home to Little Caesars Arena tonight to face the Nashville Predators. Detroit is looking to bounce back after falling to New Jersey earlier this week.
Puck drop at 7 PM on FanDuel.
MACtion: Western Michigan Rolls
Broc Lowry rushed for two touchdowns and Western Michigan capitalized on four Eastern Michigan turnovers to win 31–21 and secure the MAC regular-season title.
The victory sends the Broncos to the conference championship game.
To answer the opening question — yes, it’s stuffing for me. What’s yours?
