Mitten Minute – Michigan’s Coaching Search, Izzo Extension & Pistons Tip-Off

Michigan fans — it’s officially that time.
You need a head football coach.

Meanwhile in East Lansing, the Spartans already have theirs in Pat Fitzgerald, and just for good measure, Tom Izzo became the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten. Not a bad stretch for MSU.

Now back to football.

College Football analyst Joel Klatt released a realistic starter list of names Michigan should be looking at as it begins its coaching search. This isn’t message-board speculation — these are credible, connected candidates across the country:

  • Jesse Minter – Defensive Coordinator, Los Angeles Chargers
  • Bryant Haines – Defensive Coordinator, Indiana
  • Glenn Schumann – Co-Defensive Coordinator, Georgia
  • Clark Lea – Head Coach, Vanderbilt
  • Mike Elko – Head Coach, Texas A&M
  • Kenny Dillingham – Head Coach, Arizona State
  • Marcus Freeman – Head Coach, Notre Dame
  • Dan Lanning – Head Coach, Oregon
  • Curt Cignetti – Head Coach, Indiana

So let’s hear it, Michigan fans.

Who’s your guy?
Who fits the moment, the pressure, and the rebuild that’s coming?

Drop your prediction in the comments.

One more thing before we go —
The Detroit Pistons tip off tonight at 7:00 PM at Little Caesars Arena against the Atlanta Hawks.

That’s your Mitten Minute. See you tomorrow.
