Mitten Minute: Sherrone Moore Fired, Spartans Rising & Wings Chase Third Straight Win
If you thought this was going to be a slow news day, think again.
Today’s Mitten Minute starts in Ann Arbor, where Sherrone Moore was fired by Michigan for a violation of university policies. We all know what this is tied to, and yeah, Michigan fans had their fun with Mel Tucker — now a lot of Spartan fans are ready to return the favor. But if we’re being real, there’s nothing funny about any of this.
Moore has a family. He’s got three young daughters who probably just want their dad at home and out of the headlines. Whatever you think of the decision, or of Michigan, there’s always collateral damage when stories like this hit. So sure, get your jokes off if you need to — but at the end of the day, this one lands heavy for everyone involved.
From a football standpoint, Moore’s dismissal puts Michigan in a brutal spot on the recruiting trail and resets a lot of what they thought their long-term plan looked like.
Meanwhile, in East Lansing, it’s a completely different mood. Michigan State has Pat Fitzgerald in the building, and for the first time in a long time, things actually feel like they’re trending up for the Spartans. Culture, toughness, identity — all the things MSU fans have been begging for, Fitzgerald is built on that. If he can stack recruiting wins on top of that, the rivalry just got a whole lot more interesting.

The Detroit Red Wings are out west in Calgary, looking for their third straight win and another two points to turn this road trip into a real success. They’ve banked four points so far and now have a chance to come home feeling like they stabilized things a bit after that leaky stretch defensively.
