Are You Paying Attention to the Pistons? You Might Be Missing the Boat
Mitten Minute – December 3, 2025
If you’ve drifted away from the NBA because “nobody plays defense anymore,” you might want to tune in again — because the Detroit Pistons didn’t get that memo.
I’ve talked to a lot of fans lately who say the modern NBA is too soft, too offensive, too highlight-driven. Meanwhile, Detroit is over here grinding out stops, rotating hard, and making life miserable for teams that assume a young roster won’t defend.
If you’ve checked out, you might be missing the boat — these guys do play defense, and they’re fun as hell to watch.
With that out of the way, I’m Bob… and here’s your Mitten Minute for Wednesday, December 3rd.
🏀 Pistons Rally Late to Beat Atlanta
The Pistons pulled off a gritty 99–98 comeback win last night over the Atlanta Hawks. Cade Cunningham took over late, scoring eight of his 18 points in the final three minutes — the type of closer stuff fans have been waiting for.
Jalen Duren was an absolute force: 21 points, 11 rebounds, and nonstop energy in the paint. Detroit’s defensive execution down the stretch is exactly why this team is worth watching right now.
Tonight, the Pistons head to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks at 8 PM. Duncan Robinson is listed as questionable, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is probable.
🏒 Red Wings Snap the Skid
The Red Wings ended their four-game losing streak with a massive 5–4 win over the Boston Bruins.
Moritz Seider was outstanding — a goal and two assists — while John Gibson turned aside 33 shots. Detroit finally looked like the attacking, confident team from October.
🏀 Spartans Open Big Ten Play With Statement Win
Michigan State rolled Iowa 71–52 to open Big Ten play. Three Spartans hit double figures:
- Coen Carr: 15 points
- Jeremy Fears Jr.: 14 points, 10-for-10 from the stripe
- Jaxon Kohler: 12 points, 11 rebounds
The Breslin Center had that familiar December buzz again.
🏀 Michigan Women Host CMU Tonight
The sixth-ranked Michigan Wolverines host Central Michigan at 7 PM for Women of Inspiration Night, honoring the growth of women’s basketball across the state.
Michigan leads the all-time series 18–9 and has won four straight over the Chippewas.
